Gazzetta Summer Camp: unforgettable vacations, since 1985.
Summer is the season of passion. Unforgettable experiences which allow you to discover new dimensions, meet new friends, and tell stories about adventures and new achievements at your return. This is why Gazzetta Summer Camp was created: the goal is to offer a non-competitive athletic vacation, for kids ranging from 6 to 19 years old, aimed at fun, group activities in the wilderness and creating bonds between participants.
The project came to life in 1985 under the name Sport & Holidays Summer Camp. Initially, the sports played were volleyball, soccer and basketball. Over time, the options grew to include a great variety of sports: fencing, rock climbing, tennis, mountain biking, baseball, swimming, roller skating, scuba diving, golf, karate, archery, rugby, orienteering, judo, etc. Over the years, a new idea of vacation took over. This new type of vacation has the aim of pursuing a specific sport or different hobbies (photography, music, foreign languages, singing, dance, etc…). From this perspective there has been a larger demand for technical and thematic camps, as well as a new relationship with the real world of sports, and not just that. These camps have always been held in wonderful locations in the mountains and, in 2003, we created a new and fun vacation situated “at the beach”. The initiative is structured as to make sure that there are never inactive moments and so that the kids are always engaged in games, sports and theoretical-practical lessons
The project came to life thanks to Sport & Holidays, a Tour Operator specialized in sport vacations for kids, in collaboration with Sports Promotion, which have been organizing Summer Camps for kids for 34 years. Since 2013, we have been collaborating with Sport & Holidays, Sports Promotion and the popular sports newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport (RCS Mediagroup), which has placed its brand on all the initiatives planned.
For years Sport & Holidays and Sports Promotion have worked with Federazioni Italiane in organizing pre-agonistic and/or championship retreats, offering fully organized vacations which combine sport and relax in an increasingly welcoming environment equipped with every commodity possible.
Gazzetta Summer Camp has collaborated with Federazione Italiana Pallavolo by hosting Italian national volleyball teams as well as foreign teams (China, USA, Poland, Brazil and Japan), with the Federazione Italiana Scherma (the Italian fencing teams) during the Nazionale Femminile di Fioretto and with the Federazione Italiana Pallacanestro to host the Italian basketball teams as well as foreign ones (Turkey, Slovenia, Germany, Croatia, Russia and Latvia) as well as with the Jamaica Athletics Association. Each year such collaborations have given the kids the opportunity to meet sporting champions.
In 2018, thanks to the collaboration with Federazione Italiana Scherma (the second team with the most medals in the history of the Games, boasting 125 medals, following the United States athletics team), Gazzetta Summer Camp hosted the Consiglio Federale della Scherma (the national fencing council), which comprises celebrated athletes, such as Valentina Vezzali. That same year, in addition to the young campers, we hosted the Nazionale Italiana Paralimpica di Scherma (the Italian paralympic fencing team), which includes high-level athletes, among whom there are Marco Cima, Beatrice “Bebe” Vio, Matteo Dei Rossi, Edoardo Giordan, Gianmarco Paolucci, Alberto Pellegrini, Emanuele Lambertini and Alessia Biagini, Andreea Mogos, Rossana Pasquino and Matteo Betti.
Moreover, these past 5 years, thanks to the solid collaboration with Italy’s leading entertainment agency, Team World, world famous influencers and show business stars have been hosted at the camp, for instance, Irama, Federica Carta, Benji & Fede, Greta Menchi, Riki, Matteo Markus Bok, Thomas Bocchimpani, Luca Chikovani, Lea Cuccaroni, Alberico De Giglio, Iris Ferrari, Kessy & Mely, Marco Cellucci and Michele Bravi.
Since 2018, Gazzetta Summer Camp has also been supporting Play for Change, an international charity, which dedicates itself to promoting sports in different parts of the world, with the objective of improving the quality of life of less privileged children. Play for Change is a “social platform” which works actively in order to counteract inequalities in underprivileged communities through the healthy values of sport.
